Our Story

We’re a motivated and hardworking group of Vermonters working with Carson Hoffman, owner and leader of Hoffman Landscaping, Inc. to provide landscaping, hardscaping and snow removal services to Addison and Chittenden County residents and businesses.

Our story begins when Carson was just fifteen, the summer before his sophomore year in high school. His summer job was working fulltime for a local landscaping company. The days were long, the work was hard, and he was originally thinking “man, this is really not my thing.” As the summer progressed, he looked around and at the equipment they were using and the people he had grown to love working with each day, and his entrepreneurial curiosity was sparked. Hours of research later, he had in mind what it might take financially to run his own business in the near future.

“Although I didn't love always love the work, I loved the culture of the people that that did landscaping, and my coworkers. We would always have fun on the job site and made a lot of good memories. I realized that I really did enjoy the work.”

During the final days of that summer, Carson and his coworkers were finishing up a large mulching job when he realized “This IS where I belong. I can do this.”

The next spring, he put a wheelbarrow, a 5-gallon bucket, a shovel and a leaf rake in the back of his Mom’s car and started his first job for his first customer. He worked and saved towards his first truck, and bought it. Year over year, he saved and invested more and more in his new business.

Hoffman Landscaping, Inc. is now Carson, with 5 years of business experience under his belt, five hard-working landscapers, four trucks and a growing stock of equipment and assets.

In a time where there are a lot of opinions regarding whether Gen Z is willing to work hard and build something of our own, we can assure you that there are those of us who are.
